You’ll be amazed by how what you’re connected to impacts what you’re able to receive.
Recently, as a part-time content creator, I ran into something that felt small, but it gave me a deeper message.
I often use different apps and websites to download videos, so I can repost them across platforms.
This helps on the days where I want to rest and still be able to share faith inspiration online.
Now, if you’ve ever created content, you already know, when you upload a video from one platform to another, you have to be mindful!
Those watermarks matter and it can be key on how well a video performs.
Well friend, earlier this week, I tried downloading one of my videos from an app I’ve used before.
But this time, something was off!
Every attempt failed.
The message kept popping up:
“Unable to download due to connection issues.”
Here is what stood out, I was at home when this kept happening!
But later, on my lunch break at my day job, I tried again…the download went through instantly.
Same phone.
Same site.
Same video.
Different location. Different result.
Friend!!!
In that moment, I believe the Holy Spirit spoke something so clearly:
“There are things you’re trying to receive that your current position can’t support. Location matters.”
Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. John 15:4 KJV
What I have learned is abide in me can also mean connect with me.
It’s is through our connection with God where we able to become who He wants us to really be...and without God, it is impossible to fully become who God wants us to be.
And, I am not saying you want to stay connected to God, so you can gain the house you want, the car that you desire, the relationships, or the following from people.
I am saying that your connection with God is vital, so you can be best used for His glory!
We can not fathom what God has created us for and the good plans that He has for our lives.
And, I believe there are times in our faith journey when we are praying, believing, expecting…but we’re not receiving.
Not because God is withholding.
Not because He said “no.”
But, I believe because where we are spiritually, mentally, emotionally is disrupting the location.
“Location” isn’t always physical.
It can look like:
The posture of your heart
The state of your mind
The habits you entertain daily
The voices you constantly listen to
The environments you stay in too long
You can be asking God for wisdom…but filling your mind with noise.
You can be believing for breakthrough…but staying connected to doubt.
You can be praying for direction…but avoiding stillness.
God desires to speak.
God desires to give.
God desires to lead.
Oh friend, but if your “signal” is weak, if your “connection” is unstable, your “environment” is interfering, friend, you’ll find yourself frustrated, asking:
“Why isn’t anything coming through?”
If you’re expecting breakthrough in a specific area of your life…
How are you positioning yourself to hear from God?
Are you constantly on social media or watching tv instead of in His presence?
Are you feeding your spirit or just your emotions?
Are you creating space for Him to speak?
Because some of the very things we allow into our lives…could be blocking the very thing we’ve been praying for.
Kinda like WiFi, if you are connected to a weak signal, your device is not able to perform at its best capacity!
Phone.
Laptop.
Tablet.
As your bestie in faith, I want you to be your very best self!
If you haven't felt as connected to God, this is best opportunity to get back connected.
Say this prayer:
God,
Reveal anything in me that is disrupting my connection with you. Help me to reposition my heart, my mind, and my habits, so I can clearly receive what you are speaking. Give me the discipline to disconnect from distractions and the desire to stay connected to you. I don’t just want to ask, I want to receive.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
This Week's Faith Moves:
Ask yourself the following:
What in your life might be weakening your connection with God right now?
Where do you need to reposition yourself?
What is one practical shift you can make today to strengthen your “signal”?
Stay connected. Stay positioned. Stay expectant.
Verse of the Day
John 15:4 (KJV) “Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.”
New Here?
Hi, I am your friend, Breonna, here to help women trust God, apply His word, and actually build what He told them (even when they don't have it all figured out yet.)
If you are in a season where you're serious about trusting God for real...
