Have you ever read scripture and felt like God just gave you a throat check?

Like a spiritual wake-up call right to your core? That’s what I felt when I came across this passage:

“If someone claims, “I know God,” but doesn’t obey God’s commandments, that person is a liar and is not living in the truth.  But those who obey God’s word truly show how completely they love him. That is how we know we are living in him.  Those who say they live in God should live their lives as Jesus did.”

1 John 2:4-6 NLT

Whew. That one doesn’t just land, it knocked me out, Friend!

Did you say convicted?

Because it brought me back to the Father, God.

Here's the thing: I believe many of us grew up in church culture. We knew the songs, we memorized the verses, and we could talk the talk. But deep down? Something was missing.

We knew about God, but our lives didn’t look like we belonged to Him. This scripture exposes, living off knowledge without obedience.

Right now, maybe you’re standing in faith for something big a marriage restored, finances healed, peace in your mind. But the truth is, knowing the promises of God doesn’t release them into your life.

I am learning that application does.

We have to be mindful to live as Jesus lived, love as He loved, obey as He obeyed, that’s where breakthrough starts!

Sharing My Story For You

I cannot write enough to share how many mistakes I have made.

But, I am so grateful for God's love and grace!

This passage reminds us that when we obey God’s Word, we prove our love for Him. And in doing so, we unlock the door to breakthrough we’ve been longing for!

Imagine this: instead of just memorizing promises, you’re walking them out. Instead of wishing for change, you’re living as proof that His Word works. That’s not just breakthrough, that’s legacy.

Kingdom Builder!

If you’re ready to truly experience God’s promises, it won’t come by just knowing His Word. It comes by doing it.

Following Jesus’s example in the Gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John shows us the simplest yet most powerful way to live like true children of God.

Verse of the Day

1 John 2:5 (NLT) "But those who obey God’s word truly show how completely they love him. That is how we know we are living in him."

Reflection

Where in your life are you believing God for breakthrough? Study how Jesus handled that very thing in the Gospels. Apply it. Live it! And watch the promises you’ve only read about start unfolding in your reality.

Jesus told us plainly in Matthew 5:14, “You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden.”

Think about that!

A light doesn’t argue with the darkness: it just shines.

For over 2,000 years, Jesus’s example has continued to shine as proof that the world needs a Savior. And if we’re following His example, the same will happen with us. We won’t be able to hide it, because it’s not really us people see, it’s Jesus radiating through us.

That’s what makes your faith practical.

When you walk in obedience, your life becomes a lamp that points others to God without you ever forcing it. That’s how the breakthrough expands from you, to your family, to your community.
