Leave Room For God | Empower Her Blog

Have you ever had one of those weeks where something unexpected happened and your first response was, “Really, God?”

That was me this week, friend.

As you may notice, temperatures have been climbing across the country.

What I didn’t know was that extreme heat can do more than make your car feel like an oven...it can also put stress on your windshield.

Apparently, during the summer it’s a good idea to leave your windows cracked just a little.

That tiny bit of space allows heat to escape and reduces pressure inside the vehicle.

Let's just say, I learned that lesson the hard way.

This week, my windshield cracked.

If I’m honest, my first reaction was frustration.

I take good care of my car because I truly thank God for it.

It’s a huge blessing compared to what I used to drive, and I’m grateful He provided a job, insurance, and the ability to maintain it.

Even though the crack isn’t the end of the world, it still wasn’t something I wanted to deal with.

But as I sit with it, God is teaching me something deeper.

Leave Room for Growth...

Sometimes life heats up!

Listen, it could be a financial challenge or disappointment.

You could be waiting longer than you expected for something.

Whatever it looks like, pressure has a way of revealing what’s happening on the inside.

The same way my car needed room for the heat to escape, our hearts need room for God to work when life gets difficult.

James reminds us:

“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.” -James 1:2-3

None of us enjoy pressure!

But, pressure doesn’t have to produce panic.

It can produce endurance.

Pressure has a way of producing a deeper dependence on God.

But, friend, the goal isn’t to never experience heat...the goal is not to crack under it!

As I am still thinking on this uncomfortable situation, I have to admit something...

Lately, I’ve been faithfully asking God for wisdom every day.

But…

I can’t remember the last time I intentionally asked Him to help me take care of my car.

I thanked Him for providing it.

I thanked Him for the job.

I thanked Him for insurance.

But, somewhere along the way, I stopped inviting Him into the everyday details.

How often do we do that?

We pray about the big dreams.

We pray for breakthrough.

We pray for healing.

But, sometimes we forget that God also cares about the little things.

He cares about your work, family, finances, your car...God cares about everything concerning you.

I believe God even cares about the things keeping you awake at night.

Nothing is too small to bring before Him.

The Holy Spirit isn’t only present during church services.

He helps us in everyday life.

For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless. -Psalm 84:11

A shield protects.

Looking back, I realized God had already been protecting me before I even noticed the problem.

He had already provided a job.

He had already provided insurance.

He had already made a way for the repair.

HELLO!

The inconvenience is real, but so is His provision.

Sometimes breakthrough doesn’t look like avoiding every problem.

Sometimes breakthrough looks like discovering God has already gone before you.

This Week's Faith Moves:

Friend, if you’re waiting for breakthrough today, don’t overlook the ways God is already providing for you.

His protection may not always remove every challenge, but His presence will carry you through every one of them.

And remember His promise:

“No good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly.”

God isn’t holding back what’s good for you.

Keep walking with Him.

Keep trusting Him.

Keep making room for Him to move.

A Prayer For You My Friend:

Father, thank you for being my Shield. Thank you for protecting me in ways I don’t always recognize. Help me leave room for you to move in every area of my life. Teach me not to crack under pressure, but help me grow through every season. Remind me that no problem is too small to bring before you, and help me trust that you are working even when life doesn’t go as planned. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
