There will never be a perfect time or a perfect place for God to use you.
Your life won’t be perfectly organized.
Every question won’t be answered.
Your confidence won’t magically appear overnight. But, when God calls you, there comes a moment when you have to decide whether you’ll trust your feelings or trust Him.
How do I know?
Because I’m walking through that very thing right now.
If you would’ve asked me at 10 or even 20...if I would ever preach or teach the gospel, my answer would’ve probably been a confident no!
My papa was a pastor.
My dad is a pastor.
I was once married to a pastor. I’ve seen ministry from many different angles, and honestly, standing in front of people sharing about the Bible wasn’t something I imagined for my own life.
But, Ohhh God had other plans 😊
About two ish years ago, God started placing a burden on my heart to preach and teach His word.
Not because I have all the answers...because I don't.
Not because I have a microphone.
Not because I want attention.
Simply because people need Jesus!
As believers, we’re all called to share the gospel. Before Jesus ascended into heaven, He gave us the Great Commission in Matthew 28:18-20. He told us to go and make disciples. To share the good news.
Some of us will do that from a stage.
Others will do it across a coffee table.
Some will do it through a conversation at work.
Others through social media, writing, serving, or simply living a life that points people back to Christ.
The assignment may look different, but the mission is the same.
Romans 10:14-15 (NIV) “How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”
As good as it is to share God's word, I still get nervous.
Right before I speak, my heart races. My body get sweaty. I laugh because it reminds me of a quote in The Princess and the Frog “I’m sweating like a sinner in church.”
But, something beautiful happens every single time while I share.
Once I begin speaking, I’m reminded that this isn’t about my ability.
It’s about the Holy Spirit.
Jesus didn’t leave us to accomplish His mission alone.
He gave us the Holy Spirit to empower us, strengthen us, and give us the words we need.
The confidence I don’t naturally have is found in Him. The wisdom I lack comes from Him. The courage I need is supplied by Him.
That’s what gives me peace.
I don’t have to rely on my own strength because God never asked me to.
As I first began praying about preaching, God confirmed His calling through His word, through wise counsel, and through a peace I couldn’t explain. It wasn’t flashing lights or an audible voice. It was a quiet confidence that continued growing every time I surrendered.
So I stepped forward in faith.
Not because I felt completely ready.
But, because I believed God would give me everything I needed along the way.
This Week's Faith Moves:
Maybe that’s where you are today.
God has been placing something on your heart that you keep trying to ignore.
You believe He’s calling you to start the business.
To forgive someone.
To serve.
To lead.
To write.
To mentor.
To share your testimony.
To simply tell someone about Jesus.
You keep waiting until you feel qualified.
But, what if your willingness is what God has been looking for all along?
I would’ve never chosen this path for myself.
Yet the very thing that once made me uncomfortable has become one of the greatest reminders that God’s strength truly is made perfect in our weakness.
Recently someone asked me, "Would you call yourself an evangelist?"
"Someone else asked am I a preacher?"
My answer was simple.
I don’t really don't give myself a title.
If I have to call myself anything, I’m simply a gospel spreader.
My heart is to tell people about the goodness of Jesus Christ.
To point people toward the One who saved me.
To remind others that there is hope, healing, freedom, and new life found in Him.
Friend, if God is tugging at your heart, don’t ignore it.
You may not feel ready.
You may not even understand why He chose you.
But throughout Scripture, God has always used ordinary people who were simply willing to say yes.
Don’t wait for perfect conditions.
Walk by faith...not feelings.
Because the same God who calls you is the same God who will provide what you need.
And, when you step out in obedience, you’ll discover something beautiful:
God has never needed perfection. He’s always been looking for your yes aka surrender.
