Prepare For This | Empower Her Blog

Have you ever felt like something big was coming, but you couldn’t quite see it yet?

The feeling you are feeling could be anticipation.

And this is the year, I believe God is calling us to prepare on purpose.

The word anticipation simply means to prepare for what’s coming.

Whew.

Not just wishing, hoping, or talking about it.

Anticipation means preparing like you actually believe God is going to move!

And friend, I truly believe this is the season where those who are preparing will be able to receive what God has for them.

Even in the middle of uncertainty, healing, growing and making efforts to figure life out.

This is still a good time to prepare!

One of the things that makes this message so personal for me is remembering the season when I played basketball.

I remember always being strong on defense because I stayed ready.

Listen, I was always watching! Always prepared to move.

Always prepared to take possession.

And as I’ve grown in my walk with God, I’ve realized something…

...the same thing is true spiritually.

There is a whole war over our attention, our minds, our purpose, and our lives every single day we wake up.

Today’s scripture reminded me of that deeply:

“For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; but I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within me.”-Romans 7:22-23 (NIV)

That scripture is so real because haven’t we all experienced that tension before?

One moment we feel encouraged, inspired, and close to God.

The next moment thoughts try to creep in telling us we’re not good enough, we messed up too badly, we’ll never change, we’ll never see breakthrough, or we should just give up.

But friend, that is why preparation matters!

Because preparation is not only physical, preparation is spiritual too.

You Have to Prepare Your Mind Too

We hear people talk about preparing all the time.

If a storm is coming, people prepare.

They stock up or get ready.

But as believers, we also have to prepare spiritually!

Prepare our hearts, minds, life...prepare for the promises of God.

And, one of the biggest ways we prepare is by standing on God’s word.

Not just reading it, but applying it!

Because God’s word is not just information, it's direction for our life.

As I continue growing in my faith, I keep learning this over and over again:

One of the greatest ways we overcome the enemy is:

1. Accepting Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior

2. Studying Jesus and how He lived

3. Actually following His example

And what did Jesus do constantly?

He stood on God’s word.

Friend… you have to stay on God’s word!

Because when fear comes, you need God’s word.

When temptation comes, you need God’s word.

When insecurity comes, you need God’s word.

When disappointment comes, you need God’s word.

When breakthrough feels delayed, you need God’s word.

This is the season to get so filled up with God’s truth that when life hits, your foundation stays rooted.

This Week's Faith Moves:

Sometimes we pray for breakthrough, but God is asking:

“Are you preparing for what you prayed for?”

Whew.

Because anticipation says:

“God, I trust you enough to get ready before I even see it.”

That is faith.
