Be Transformed: When God’s Word Becomes Personal | Empower Her Blog

I didn’t need a new city. I didn’t need a new job.

I needed a renewed mind.

There was a time in my life when things weren’t terrible…but they weren’t thriving either.

I wanted better.

Better relationships.

Better finances.

Better peace.

Better direction. Just better.

So, I did what most of us do when we’re searching for better...I moved.

New state. Fresh start. Clean slate.

But, what I didn’t realize is that geography doesn’t transform you, God’s word does.

I’ll never forget walking into that small church, maybe 20 people max. Nothing flashy.

No big production. Just Bible study.

They were going through a devotional about being transformed by God’s word.

I couldn’t tell you every scripture they covered, but I remember this one:

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is-his good, pleasing and perfect will.” Romans 12:2 (NIV)

For the first time, I didn’t just hear an inspiring message.

I saw possibility.

I had heard sermons before. I knew church language. But, this time felt different.

It wasn’t about memorizing scripture, it was about living differently because of it.

At the time, I could barely keep money in my bank account.

I was working 16-hour shifts.

No rent. Still stressed. Still empty. Still searching.

And, I remember thinking:

What if this could actually change my life?

What if better was possible?

I wish I could tell you everything changed the next morning.

It didn’t.

Transformation wasn’t instant.

It happen little by little...bit by bit.

Months later, I moved back home and joined a church whose entire vision was being transformed by God’s word.

Not just hearing it. Not just quoting it. Living it...by faith!

That’s when things really shifted.

I began learning what God’s word say, how to apply it, how to surrender control, how to stop letting my feelings be the CEO of my life.

And slowly, not perfectly, my life began to look different.

It’s still not perfect.

But, it’s far from where it used to be and I give all glory to God!

Recently, I read something that blessed me.

The author said something like:

You can’t force anyone to change.

You can only live your truth and model what transformation looks like.

They gave an example of a wife constantly nagging her husband about his health while he’s eating chips on the couch.

Fear doesn’t change people.

Pressure doesn’t change people.

Nagging doesn’t change people.

People change when they decide to.

And, that hit me.

Because how often do we as women try to control people, outcomes, timelines, results, or growth?

But, Romans 12:2 doesn’t say, “Force others to be transformed.”

It says be transformed.

When the seed is planted...God brings the increase. (And, that's Bible!)

If you’re sharing God’s word and seeing no fruit yet, feeling overwhelmed by scripture, wanting better but unsure what “better” even looks like, or trying to control everything around you, you’re not alone.

Transformation isn’t about striving harder.

Want real transformation? Allow God's word to change you to empower others.

Start praying:

“God, renew my mind.”

“God, change me.”

“God, be the decision-maker of my life, not my emotions.”

I’m learning that daily.

And Bestie, I promise you, if you let Him, God will retrain your thinking.

He’ll reshape your responses. He’ll rebuild your desires.

But, you have to allow His word to transform you.

Are you ready?

This Week's Faith Moves...aka Nuggets :)

1. Sit With One Verse This Week

Don’t rush. Take Romans 12:2. Write it. Pray it. Ask God what needs renewing.

2. Join Community

Transformation accelerates in safe spaces. Find a church. Join Bible study. Get around women who are serious about growth.

3. Model, Don’t Manage

Stop trying to force people to change. Live transformed. Influence through example.

4. Let God Be the CEO of Your Life...PERIOD!

Before making decisions this week, ask: “Am I reacting emotionally, or responding biblically?”

A Little Extra 3 cents for you, friend :)

You moved cities. You changed jobs. You tried new routines.

But, what if the breakthrough you’re seeking starts in your mind?

You want to know what God wants for you and His good, pleasing, and perfect will.

Romans 12:2.

Romans 12:2 changed my life.

Not in one day.

But, in one decision to let God’s word actually change me.

He’s still transforming me...or in the words of my dad "He is still working on me!"

God can do it for you too!

If this inspired you, if you’re tired of surface-level faith and ready to truly be transformed, I want to personally invite you to the Build By Faith Series happening next Monday.

It’s about women coming together to grow stronger in faith once a month and learn how to actually live this out.

If you’ve been praying for clarity through God's word, This space is for you.

Come as you are.

Hungry. Honest. Hopeful.

Let’s build by faith, together.
