EMPOWER HER BLOG: HONESTY IS THE BEST POLICY

Updated: Apr 21, 2023

There were moments in the early stages of my walk after coming back to Christ where I realized two things:

That I felt I had to hide certain feelings or emotions from God and that I was ungrateful if I felt certain feelings or emotions in relation to the Father.

It took me a year or so into my walk to realize that just like God did not expect me to be perfect in how I carried myself in that same way, He did not expect me to be perfect in my feelings and emotions, especially towards Him.

When I came to talk to the Father in prayer, He did not want it to be about me pretending I was not feeling a certain way, instead He wanted to heal me of what I was feeling, carry me through those tough feelings and emotions and help me to understand why I was feeling them.

We often wonder why we leave the Father's presence still feeling off and, for some, we are so afraid to be honest with the Father and ourselves that we remain oblivious to that 'off feeling' after leaving His presence, but something we fail to realize, however, is that just because we are pretending or being oblivious does not mean the Father isn't aware.

Matthew 5:3 reminds us “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven” - The Father wants a relationship with us where our hearts are open, vulnerable and honest.
