Whether this is your first or millionth time, God loves to hear from you.
Yes, you, Friend!
The reason is simple.
God loves to hear from you because God created you.
According to Genesis 1:27 God created you and he created you in his image.
So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. Genesis 1:27
Simply put, you my friend are God's child!
Like a loving parent, God loves to hear from you.
Think about having a dialogue with your children or parents.
Whenever you had conversations with your loved ones, you were either listening or talking, right?
Well, prayer is the way where you’re able to communicate with your creator, Heavenly Father, God!
It is through prayer where you’re able to listen to God, express gratitude, or simply share requests to God.
If I can be honest, I remember a time where my prayers mostly consisted of requests.
If I can be even more real, I was not spending enough listening or sharing gratitude!
Thinking back on this, I was like a little child going to pour out all my wants and not giving God, my Heavenly Father, enough time to express my true needs.
As I continued to grow in faith, I started to see how much my relationship with God is really like that of my close relationships with loved ones.
The more I spent time with God the greater value I saw when praying!
Once I started to see from this perspective, I became more open to take moments of silence in prayer. In those silent moments, I would think of certain scriptures.
As a result, I read those scriptures with many that would come to mind and align with how I was feeling.
Or, those same scriptures would provide a solution to a problem I was facing.
How about you, Friend?
How do you see your prayer time with God?
When you begin taking a moment in prayer, is the conversation primarily one-sided?
The next time you are ready to talk with God remember the following:
Have moments to listen.
'Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.' -Psalm 37:4
Before you speak a word, take a moment to simply sit in silence while closing your eyes. You would be surprised by how a verse, word, or image that will come to mind. When the verse, word, or image appears align with God's word, Friend, that is God speaking to you!
Have moments of gratitude.
This, then, is how you should pray: “ ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.”Matthew 6:9-10 NIV
Once you have had a moment in silence. Begin sharing with God how much you are grateful! You can start and express three small things you are grateful for. You may simply say 'God I thank you for (______).'God I am so grateful for (______).' 'God, I know everything I have is only because of you. '
The time you spend with God is as valuable as the time you spend with your loved ones.
Move forward choosing to make every moment of great value.
Because, it really is :)
