Heeeeey Honey Bunches! We Share To Empower is a series within our blog where guest bloggers can share their testimonies of something awesome God has done in their life! Today, read LaWanda’s story:
Writing has never been optional for me.
Like eating and breathing, it’s integral to my existence.
Writing is therapy, it allows me to dream while I’m awake.
Growing up I was often told that I was a great storyteller with a broad imagination.
I was inspired to write my book after accepting a position as a HR Director, but later noticed it was a toxic work environment.
After dealing with many negative situations, I gained the courage to speak up for the unethical behaviors, but was later harassed and terminated.
I had hatred in my heart after losing my job.
I was the only black person working in that department and there was no respect for me and my decision-making.
I had been in human resources for over 15 years and didn’t know what else God had in store for me.
While being unemployed, I received countless rejections from other employers.
It was mind-boggling the amount of interviews I had gone through, but no success.
I endured many sleepless nights and overwhelmed with stress, but once my emotions subsided, I put things in perspective and finally opened my heart to forgive.
After praying in the closet, I reached for a box on the top shelf and out fell a journal that I had written 5 years prior.
I immediately started to type my first draft of mybook, Stand Up, Speak Up, Because Your Time’s Up.
“Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” Ephesians 4:32
God blessed me with a book contract after I forgave the ones that mistreated me.
What they thought would be a setback was a setup for a comeback.
In my autobiography, I share inspirational true stories of my challenges and personal struggles where I had to lean to God for understanding and stand up and speak for my beliefs.
I motivate you to have a life of purpose, understand your self-worth, and be kind to one another.
My powerful testimony will fill you with hope and faith and encourage you to love and forgive. Always choose faith over fear.
Not only did “Stand Up, Speak Up, Because Your Time’s Up” gain interest from a publishing company, but it also birth a book business, and caught the attention of a producer to one day be turned into a film.
“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy path.” Proverbs 3:5-6
My pain turned into my passion and God revealed my purpose.

Don’t allow the letdowns of life stop you from pursuing your dreams, God may be pushing you into a new chapter to reach your destiny.
Good things come to those who believe, better things come to those who are patient, and the best things come to those who forgive and stay in faith.
