What Does Real Faith Look Like? | Empower Her Blog

We prepare for almost everything that matters.

We prepare for interviews.

We prepare for trips.

We prepare for conversations we know are important.

But, how often do we prepare to share what God has actually done in our lives?

“Pay attention and turn your ear to the sayings of the wise; apply your heart to what I teach, for it is pleasing when you keep them in your heart and have all of them ready on your lips.” -Proverbs‬ ‭22‬:‭17‬-‭18‬ ‭NIV‬‬

This verse speaks about keeping wisdom in our hearts and having it ready on our lips.

That means what God teaches you isn’t just for private inspiration it’s for public impact!

And for me, this became real when I decided to truly bet on God.

What Does Real Faith Actually Look Like?

When I made the decision to go all in with God, I had one honest question:

What does real faith look like?

That’s when I came across Hebrews 11:1:

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” (KJV)

It was the evidence for me!

Faith isn’t simply wishful thinking or hoping.

Faith is a hope that has evidence.

It’s not something I casually hope for.

It’s something I genuinely believe, so I act, even before I see it!

That changed everything in my life.

I realized if faith has evidence, then my life should reflect it.

So, I stopped just reading the Bible.

I started applying it!

I began searching God’s promises and asking:

  • What does God actually say about provision?

  • What does He say about peace?

  • What does He say about healing?

  • What does He say about obedience?

Because real faith isn’t just information...it’s application.

Your Experience Is Preparation

Friend, it’s beautiful to know scripture.

But, what have you experienced?

Where has God built up your trust in Him?

Where has He proven Himself to you?

Where did obedience feel uncomfortable, but worth it?

Someone who has never heard about Jesus Christ may not first need your theology.

Or, the church notes from Sunday's message 😊

They may need your story...the real one!

And, here’s a powerful question to sit with this week:

Who in my life might need to hear this?

Your breakthrough may not just be for you!

Two Nuggets That Help Me

1. Keeping A W.H.Y. - A Will-to Honor Yes!

When I chose Christ, I wasn’t just choosing belief.

I was saying "Yes" to honor Him with my life!

A Will-to Honor Yes means:

“God, yes, I believe who you are, what you have for me, and I will live like I do.”

That mindset naturally prepares you.

Because when you live what you believe, sharing becomes overflow, not pressure.

2. Remember You’re Not Alone

This is a promise to all believers..God promises to never leave nor forsake you.

Everything you’ve learned, God revealed!

Every step of growth, He strengthened.

When you speak about what He has done, you are not performing, you are partnering with Him.

And the same Spirit who helped you walk it out will help you speak it out!

This Week's Faith Moves...aka Nuggets :)

Think about one area where God has grown you.

Maybe it’s anxiety.

Maybe it’s finances.

It could be discipline or forgiveness.

Search Bible verses that relate to that area.

Of course, write down the verses.

Reflect on how you applied them.

Then, ask God to prepare you for one conversation.

Not forced or rehearsed.

Just be ready.

Because when wisdom is stored in your heart, it naturally becomes ready on your lips.

“Your obedience becomes evidence of your faith.”

Lord, thank you for every promise you’ve spoken and every lesson you’ve walked us through. Help us not just to hear your word, but to live it! Prepare our hearts and lips, so that when the opportunity comes, we will be ready to share what you’ve done. Use our stories for your glory. In Jesus name, amen.

P.S. In John 4, after the Samaritan woman encountered Jesus at the well, she went back to her town and simply said, “Come and see.” She didn’t have a sermon, she had an experience. And that experience opened the door for many others to believe!

Your “come and see” might be the invitation someone else is waiting for.
