When Life Doesn’t Go the Way You Thought It Would | Empower Her Blog

ree

  • Have you ever faced something you didn’t see coming, something that completely shook the life you imagined? Maybe it was a broken relationship, a diagnosis, a financial setback, or a dream you thought God was going to bring to pass.

I’ve been there.

One of the hardest seasons I’ve ever walked through was my divorce.

I never imagined that after making the decision to surrender my sexual desires to God, after decades of struggling with sex, pornography, and masturbation...marriage would still end this way.

In my mind, I didn’t see marriage as a “reward” for the waiting, but I did believe that because I waited, God would honor my obedience with a marriage that worked.

So when it ended, I felt blindsided.

I didn’t know what life would look like next.

And in that moment of heartbreak, there was one scripture that anchored me then and still blesses me today:

Romans 8:28 (KJV) "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose."

Has God ever met you in a moment you thought was hopeless?

Here's to Remember When You’re in a Hard Season

If you’re facing a situation you didn’t plan for, here are three truths this verse reminds me of:

  1. God Sees the Full Picture - This moment is only one chapter, not your whole story!

  2. Your Pain Has Purpose - Even if you can’t see it yet, God wastes nothing!

  3. Faith is a Daily Choice - It’s not about feeling strong; it’s about choosing to trust Him again today!

Maybe you are there right now.

Maybe it’s not divorce, but it’s something else that has left you hurting and unsure.

You still believe God is good.

You still believe in His power.

You might even be holding out hope that He’s going to miraculously remove you from the situation.

Sharing My Story For You

Friend, I want you to know, I understand. I may not know every detail of your pain, but I do know this: the God who has worked every detail of my story for good can do the same for yours.

Since my divorce, I’ve seen God use my pain to inspire others, to give them courage to keep going, and to show what real faith looks like.

True faith isn’t just hope, or a knowledge of God.

True faith isn't just believing in God when everything’s going well, true faith it is trust when nothing makes sense!

Friend, if I can keep loving God through my hardest season, I know you can too. Not because we’re strong, but because He is.

So whatever you’re facing today: loss, betrayal, disappointment, or uncertainty...hold tight to the truth: God will work it for your good. It may not look like what you expected, but it will always be better than you imagined when His fingerprints are on it.

Amen!
