Who Are You...Really? | Empower Her Blog

Who Are You, Really?

Not your bio.

Not your title.

Not what people call you online.

I mean
who are you when God asks?

There’s a moment in Acts 19 that made me pause.

Some men tried to use the name of Jesus like a shortcut.

They had seen real power.

They had watched God move through the Apostle Paul.

So, they tried to copy it.

They said, “In the name of Jesus that Paul preaches
”

And, that whole the evil spirit answered with a question that still hits today:

"One day the evil spirit answered them, “Jesus I know, and Paul I know about, but who are you?” -Acts 19:15 NIV

That question wasn’t rude.

It was real.

When I was a little girl, I used to watch my aunt sing.

Not just sing...but minister.

Every time she opened her mouth, the room changed.

You could feel God’s presence.

I would get goosebumps every single time.

Even as a child, I knew something important:

That gift came from her relationship with God.

Not talent alone, performance, but the residue of relationship!

Over the years, I’ve seen people preach, teach, sing, and serve.

Some were loud, quiet, but the ones who truly moved hearts all had one thing in common:

They knew God for themselves.

Why “Who Are You?” Matters Right Now?

Now, that God is calling me to teach and even preach this question keeps coming back to me:

“Who are you, Breonna?”

Not:

Who are you copying?

Who do you sound like?

Or, who do people think you are?

But:

Do you know Me?

Do you walk with Me?

Do you trust Me?

In a world where being “Christian” is trendy, God isn’t impressed by titles.

I believe by faith that God is looking for relationship.

This Week's Faith Moves...aka Nuggets :)

How You Actually Know Who You Are in God

It’s simpler than we make it.

1. Seek God first...every day. (Matthew 6:33: "But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.")

Let God help you decide all things.

Not just big things...everything.

2. Thank God and talk to Him honestly. (Psalms 107:1: "Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.")

You don’t need fancy words.

Just real ones...filled with gratitude to the Lord.

3. Speak God’s promises over yourself. (Proverbs 18:21: The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.)

Before the fear.

Before the doubt.

Before you quit.

When you do these things consistently, something shifts.

You don’t have to pretend.

You don’t have to prove yourself.

You don’t have to copy anyone else.

You’ll know who you are because God does.

You will find yourself from trying to belong, perform, or copy...to knowing God is calling you deeper and walking confidently as who God created you to be!

Your relationship will replace performance.

So let me ask you gently, honestly:

Who are you
 really?

And, more importantly
do you know God for yourself?

If this question,“Who are you, really?” is tugging at your heart, that’s not random.

Sometimes the Holy Spirit doesn’t give us answers right away.

Sometimes He invites us to pause, reflect, and listen.

That’s why we created the Faith Builder Quiz.

It’s not about labels or perfection.

It’s a simple way to help you see where you are in your walk with God, what might be holding you back and how God may be inviting you to grow deeper with Him right now

No pressure. No rush.

Just clarity, encouragement, and a next step...if you want it.

👉 You can take the Faith Builder Quiz whenever you’re ready.

Because knowing who you are in God changes how you show up everywhere else.
