When is the last time that you have rested?

When are you taking intentional time to really gather your thoughts?

Or, how often do you admire and reflect on the work that you have been able to accomplish?

Whether you know it or not resting is vital as a creator.

As we have been learning in this blog post series, we were created by The Creator, God, to create.

When God created us, He created us in His image.

In other words, as believers of faith, we have the same power and characteristics of our Creator, and we should apply them throughout our lives.

One characteristic of God we will discuss today is the ability to rest.

After God created the heavens, earth, and everything in them was completed, He rested.

“So the creation of the heavens and the earth and everything in them was completed. On the seventh day God had finished his work of creation, so he rested from all his work.” Genesis‬ ‭2‬:‭1‬-‭2‬ NLT

I believe one of the reasons God gave us this example to rest is to let us know it is okay to rest!

If you and I can be honest, our society doesn’t promote resting.

Many posts we see on social media are images created by people displaying them grinding, hustling, or ‘putting in the work’ to make it.

Then, when they make it, those same individuals will go on grinding, hustling, or ‘putting in the work’ to make some thing or things happen.

There is nothing wrong with ‘trying to make it’, but it is a dangerous game to play if one doesn’t take the time to rest.

As believers of faith, we are called to follow God’s example, not our society.

I encourage you to create an alarm on your phone for today, tomorrow, or this weekend to rest.

Use that time to reflect of the things God has helped you to create.

Write down things you would like to create.

Ask God for wisdom on what you should begin creating.

Remember, you were created by The Creator, God, to create.

Admire His example.

Follow His example.

For the rest of this year, every week our ministry will be sharing how you can create in purpose.
