Don’t Rush What God Wants to Reveal | Empower Her Blog

When was the last time you truly meditated on Scripture, not just read it to finish a chapter, but sat with it long enough for it to sit with you?
I’m not talking about rushing through a morning devotional or checking off your “quiet time” box.
I’m talking about delighting in God's word, letting one verse speak, convict, and comfort until your heart starts to slow down and your spirit begins to breathe again.
Recently, I found myself doing just that with Psalm 1:1-3, the same passage that once encouraged me when I first recommitted my life to Christ.
I’ve read it before, but this time… I didn’t move past it.
I lingered.
I repeated it.
I let it soak in.
“Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither-whatever they do prospers.”
-Psalm 1:1-3 (NIV)
As I kept reading, something shifted.
The more I meditated, the more I realized this wasn’t just about memorizing verses...it was about becoming rooted in the word again.
There Is Power of Staying Planted
Sometimes we feel spiritually dry not because God isn’t speaking, but because we’ve stopped sitting still long enough to listen.
When I think about being “like a tree planted by streams of water,” I picture someone who refuses to be moved by changing seasons.
The economy can shift.
Relationships can test you.
Life can feel uncertain.
But, when your roots are deep in the God's word, you don’t crumble...you continue to bear fruit!
That’s the beauty of meditating on God’s word.
Sharing My Story For You
God's word doesn’t just grow your knowledge, it grows your strength.
If you’ve been moving fast lately. Or, you’ve been in a season where you’re pouring out, but you are not being poured into.
Maybe it is time for you to remember how you first fell in love with Scripture, when verses felt alive, and God’s Word felt fresh.
If that’s you, like me, this could be your gentle nudge: slow down and delight again.
Take one verse this week. Write it down. Read it every morning and every night.
Ask the Holy Spirit to show you something new each time. You’ll be surprised at how much He reveals when you make space for Him to speak.
Choose one verse that has anchored you in the past.
Meditate on it daily for seven days.
Journal what God reveals.
Share that revelation with someone, it may be the fruit they’ve been praying for.
Verse of the Day
Psalm 1:3 (NIV) “That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither-whatever they do prospers.”
Friend, don’t rush what God wants to reveal.
The same Word that sustained you before can strengthen you again.
Stay rooted.
Stay teachable.
Stay planted.
Because when your delight is in the Lord, you don’t just survive seasons, you thrive through them.
