What I have learned, as a believer in faith, is a simple verse that we walk by faith and not by sight.
The meaning behind this verse is choosing to trust in God no matter what our natural eyes may see.
As I am growing stronger in faith, I have learned this to be all true!
I am also learning that walking by faith includes choosing faith over how I feel.
Meaning, choosing to follow God means even when my emotions may not align with my faith.
For example, if something causes fear, I realize that fear is simply a spirit.
Fear is not a spirit that God wants me to have, for God has not given me a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind. (2 Timothy 1:7)
Or, if something makes me feel anxious. I know that I can cast every anxiety on God because He cares for me. (1 Peter 5:7)
If I feel alone, I know that God will never leave me or abandon me. (Deuteronomy 31:8)
If I feel confused, I know that I can ask God for wisdom and He will give it to me generously. (James 1:5)
When you evaluate your life, how have you chosen faith over feelings lately?
What truths from God’s word have you chosen to combat against feelings?
I encourage you today to identify at least one feeling you have felt that does not align with God’s truth about your current circumstance.
Perhaps, you feel alone, anxious, confused, or fearful.
Then, find one scripture that speaks the truth to combat that feeling and read it out loud over you this week.
When you choose faith, your feelings will follow and place you on the path towards freedom.
For where the spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
