Have you ever been in a situation where you were unsure if Jesus would join in with you?
Perhaps you expected Jesus to show up the way you desired.
The more time went by the more the silence created pressure in your desire for Jesus' arrival!
We are sure this is the way John the Baptist may have felt while in prison.
Prior to John’s incarceration, he was super confident to announce Jesus’ arrival as Lord.
The Bible states, in Matthew 3:3 NIV,
“This is he who was spoken of through the prophet Isaiah: “A voice of one calling in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him.’
However, in the next several chapters forward John the Baptist found himself in prison while sending a few of his followers to Jesus and see if Jesus was who John believed him to be!
Matthew 11:2-3 NIV, states,
“When John, who was in prison, heard about the deeds of the Messiah, he sent his disciples to ask him, “Are you the one who is to come, or should we expect someone else?”
Can you relate to John in your own relationship with God?
When you think about when you first decided to follow Christ, we are sure you probably were super excited!
Maybe, you wanted to attend all the Bible study classes, church services, volunteer etc.
How does your relationship with God look like now, friend?
Can you say it’s the same?
If so, that’s awesome 🤩
However, we understand it may not look the same.
Maybe, you have experienced something that has stretched your faith in Jesus.
If this is where you are, we would like to help you today!
James 1:2-4 NIV states,
“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”
You see, the more you follow God the more you will find things that will grow your faith!
Deep dependency on God is the pathway to great faith.
Don’t believe us, look at some of the OGs of faith found in Hebrews 11:4-32!
Just like them, John the Baptist, was a man of great.
Though he had great faith, he also had a moment where he was unsure of Jesus.
Friend, Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever...And, that's BIBLE!
In response, Jesus told John’s followers he was who John knew he was.
May the Lord do the same for you!
