EMPOWER HER BLOG: God, Are You Really Listening?

Updated: Apr 21, 2023

There are times when one asks the question.

The question most ask, God are you listening?

I believe this question comes mostly when a person feel as if what they are saying or requesting from God is not being answered in the way or time they expected.

Or, maybe that someone is just me!

Sometimes I find myself waiting longer than I expected for God to answer a prayer.

If I can be honest, some of those times I grow a little anxious and think, ‘Alright, God, I’m still here…waiting…you can move at any moment now!’

However, what I am learning is there are a few things that seem to speed up the process for me to receive what I am waiting for.

It is these very things I’d like to share with you today.

In hopes, I pray you will try them the next time you find yourself in between waiting on an answered prayer.

Next time, I plan to do the same!

1. Be Honest With God

“But God did listen! He paid attention to my prayer.” Psalms 66:19

Did you know God listens when you speak to him?

I believe one of the biggest lies the enemy tries to convince people to believe while waiting is God is not listening.

God is omnipresent, He is literally everywhere with you (Isaiah 43:2)

One of the benefits in sharing to God your feelings is that He understands what you are experiencing.

In return, he will give you practical steps on how to move forward from your current circumstances.

2. Be Open To Share With A Friend or Two

“Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed.” Ecclesiastes 4:9

The Bible tells us we can find strength in being unified.

Inviting your friends into the waiting journey with you by being open to them will help strengthen your process.

Meaning, don’t be shy to tell your friends about how you are feeling.

This life you live is hard to do alone.

Let them know you need their prayers, or even their ears…to listen of course😉

3. Be Active

“So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God!” 1 Corinthians 10:31

What is something you enjoy doing?

Is it working out?

Is it making TikToks?

Or, do you prefer to simply spend time with family or friends?

I have learned during the wait time to receive an answer prayer the more active I was the shorter the process seemed to receive what I was expecting.

I believe being active helped because I was less focused on my concern/problem, but I was more focused on what God wanted me to do, the purposeful things that bring me and others joy!

I encourage you to make a list of the things you enjoy doing.

Ask yourself, what items that are on my list are purposeful?

What items are on your list helps you to grow emotionally, mentally, spiritually, and physically?

Pick one today!

For the next week, challenge yourself to intentionally do that purposeful thing on your list and be encourage the wait will be worth it❤️
