EMPOWER HER BLOG: IF JESUS CAN REST, SO CAN I

Updated: Apr 21, 2023

Hustle. Grind. Work Hard.

Like me, I am sure if you have scrolled on social media recently you have seen one of the above words in a post pertaining to success.

According to our culture, in order to be successful we have to continuously hustle, grind, and work hard!

In fact, I seldom see success posts sharing the importance of taking moments to rest.

Thankfully, you and I are believers of Christ and have Jesus as our ultimate example to follow, not our culture.

Because Jesus rested!

The Death of John the Baptist…Jesus Rested (Matthew‬ ‭14:13‬)

Before Preaching…Jesus Rested

(‭‭Mark‬ ‭1:35‬)

Before Calming A Storm…Jesus Rested

(‭‭Mark‬ ‭4:38‬ ‭NLT‬‬)

After Feeding 5,000…Jesus Rested

(‭‭Mark‬ ‭6:31‬)

Should I continue?

Jesus was very intentional to not only work continuously for the Kingdom of God.

Jesus was very intentional to rest by spending time with His Heavenly Father, so he can be filled to continue his mission. (Luke 5:16)

In other words, the more Jesus was able to rest the more He was able to seek God on the next steps He needed to make in order to be successful.

Did you catch that?

No?

Read the next two words carefully:

Resting Restores

Honey Bunches, I am not sure what you define as success, but I believe in order to obtain success it is not limited to a constant cycle of hustle, grind, or hard work.

As a believer of Christ, it is important that you follow the example He has laid before you.

It is when you rest, God restores, brings you back, to where you need to be in order to become successful.

Now, I am not saying that you should not put in work to become successful.

I am sharing if you want to be successful in the plan that God has for you life, you may want to start being intentional to start Matthew 6:33, Seek God first, not our culture.

After reading this post,

What is one area in your life where you need to rest?

I encourage you for the remainder of the week to rest in that area.

Be more intentional to Matthew 6:33 (Seek God first) and watch everything you need be provided. 😃
