When I was a young girl, I was known by teachers as the girl who talked too much🙈
Most if not all of my report cards had check marks sharing in detail by how I loved to talk!
In fact, my teachers were right…I did love to talk so much that at times I hardly ever listened.
Eventually, I got faced with a harsh reality.
One day, I was speaking with a friend over the phone.
By the time our conversation had ended, I could not recall one thing they had mentioned.
(We talked over an hour) 😳
I remember everything I shared in detail, yet I couldn’t recall anything they had shared with me.
Immediately, I felt like a terrible friend!
After a while, my friend and I ended our conversation and not too soon later God brought my error to light: I was hardly quiet while my friend talked to me.
Therefore, I was unable to hear what my friend shared.
Listen and silent are spelled with the same letters.
“Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry.” James 1:19 NLT
Honey Bunches, as believers of faith, we are so blessed we have the Bible, for it gives us wisdom we can apply in our everyday lives!
In this scripture, James shares helpful Spiritual Nuggets we can use for better communication.
Effective communication is not limited to simply talking, it also includes listening well.
In order for us to do just that, we need to first have a moment to think before we speak.
When we do this, it will give us an opportunity to truly listen to something that could possibly be a blessing to us!
I certainly learned my lesson😉
