Faith You Can See | Empower Her Blog

“Sometimes You Have to See It Before You See It.”

Have you ever had a moment where God used something small… something ordinary… to remind you of a truth you’ve been praying about?

That was me this past weekend. What I thought was just a Saturday outing with my nephews turned into a whole sermon God preached to my heart.

Let me set the scene.

I took my nephews one 14, one 7, to an indoor racing place.

The seven-year-old didn’t meet the height requirement, so I had to race on his behalf.

With him in the passenger seat.

Before the race even began, he looked at me with all the confidence of a tired grown man and said:

“I don’t think we’re gonna win.”

And instantly I felt it, God tugging at me.

I looked at him and said, “Winning is possible for us. But you can’t speak bad, but really want to win. If you want to win, you have to believe we can win.”

He shrugged.

But friend… as I was talking to him, the Holy Spirit whispered something to me:

“You have to see it before you see it.”

Right there in the loud, crowded room, I closed my eyes and imagined us winning.

Not just crossing the finish line, I saw his face.

I saw the excitement.

I saw myself turning to him saying, “See? I told you we would win!”

The first time I closed my eyes, it felt silly.

The second time… it felt like faith.

Because faith isn’t fantasy.

Faith is preparation for what God already said is possible.

The moment t buzzer sound signaled “Go,” I floored it.

I remembered someone telling me the key to winning was staying close to the middle, not swerving around trying to dodge everyone else’s path.

So I stayed in the middle.

Smooth. Steady. Focused.

But, there was a moment where another car bumped us…and for a split second, I thought, “Maybe we aren’t going to win after all.”

But right then, I literally felt the Holy Spirit say:

“Press the gas.”

So I did.

And guess what… we won!

And the look on my nephew’s face?

It was very similar to what I had envisioned before the race even started.

Sharing My Story For You

As I sat with this moment, God brought something else back to my remembrance, Mary and Elizabeth.

Before Mary ever held Jesus in her arms…

Before she ever saw the promise fulfilled…

Before she ever witnessed the miracle she was carrying…

She went to Elizabeth’s house and she was in the presence of someone who was already full-term with her promise.

Mary walked into a room where what she had only heard was now something she could see.

Sometimes God gives you a preview through someone else’s life, so you can believe for your own.

Mary wasn’t comparing.

She wasn’t jealous.

She wasn’t shrinking.

She was being strengthened by evidence.

She was seeing what faith fulfilled looks like.

Sometimes God will show you victory in someone else so you know what victory can look like in you.

And just like that race…sometimes you have to see it before you see it.

FAITH NUGGETS TO HOLD ON TO

1. Your words set the direction of your race.

If you speak defeat, you’ll drive like someone expecting defeat.

2. Faith requires vision.

Before you walk it out, you must be willing to SEE it in your spirit.

3. Stay in your lane.

Trying to outrun everyone else slows you down.

Obedience is your speed. Focus is your fuel.

4. Being bumped doesn’t disqualify you.

A setback is often a spiritual push: “Press the gas.”

5. God will often let you witness someone else’s breakthrough to build your belief for your own.

Elizabeth was Mary’s evidence.

Somebody in your life is your evidence too.

For The Faith Builder

1. Visualize Your Win (Even If It Feels Uncomfortable).

Close your eyes and SEE yourself in the victory God promised you, the book finished, the job obtained, the debt paid, the healing complete.

2. Speak the Outcome You Desire, Not the One You Fear.

No more rehearsing defeat. No more “what if it doesn’t work.”

Your words build the world you walk into.

3. Identify Your Elizabeth.

Who is God showing you as evidence that your promise is possible?

Let their testimony encourage, not intimidate you.

4. Ask God: “Where do I need to press the gas?”

Is it consistency?

Is it preparation?

Is it obedience in the small things?

Is it releasing fear?

5. Stay in the Middle of God’s Will.

Not comparing.

Not drifting.

Not swerving into assignments that don’t belong to you.

Bestie, here’s the truth:

Victory is rarely accidental. Faith makes room for the win before the win shows up.

Just like that race…just like Mary…sometimes all God needs is for you to see it before you see it.

Verse of the Day

Luke 1:45 (NIV) Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her!
