Real Talk: You're Not Alone In This | Empower Her Blog

There are moments more often than I’d like to admit, when I don’t feel as confident to do the things God has called me to do.
Sometimes, thoughts from my past creep in, trying to convince me that I’m not worthy. And if I’m being honest, there are days when I feel discontent with where I am, like I should be further along or doing more.
I remember one morning in particular. I had just woken up and started getting ready for work, and out of nowhere, those old memories came rushing in. Mistakes I’ve made. Choices I wish I could undo. I felt the weight of regret settling on my shoulders.
It wasn’t loud, but it was heavy.
Still, I kept moving. I got in the shower. Packed my lunch. Made breakfast.
But the heaviness didn’t leave. It followed me as I walked to the car, sat in the driver’s seat, and started my usual route to work.
And then, right there in the car, I had a moment. A thought rose up in me: “No. I’m not going to move forward like this. I know who I am in God.”
That’s when everything shifted.
I began to declare the things I was grateful for. I reminded myself of God’s goodness. Psalm 107:1 says, “Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever.” And I held onto that. Even though my feelings were trying to pull me under, I stood on what I knew to be true.
Sharing My Story For You
So if you’re reading this and you’ve ever felt that same weight. Whether from your past or your present. I want to encourage you to fight back with gratitude. Start declaring what you’re thankful for.
Remind yourself of who you are in Christ. Speak truth louder than the lies.
You have authority through Jesus. You don’t have to carry the weight. You don’t have to sit in shame.
You can rise, even if all you have the strength to do is whisper, “God, thank You.”
Before you scroll, pause and name 3 things you’re grateful for right now.
Then declare out loud:
“I am loved. I am chosen. I am walking in God’s purpose, even on the hard days.”
Verse of the Day
Psalm 107:1 NIV says, “Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever.”
