What if the very gift you’ve been hiding is the thing someone else desperately needs?
I grew up singing.
Church choirs, school concerts, even scholarships that helped me through college. Singing was always woven into my story. But somewhere along the way, I stopped leading songs. I compared my voice to others, felt insecure, and politely declined anytime someone asked me to lead.
When I read the parable of the talents again here recently, I saw myself in the servant who buried what his master entrusted to him. Not because he failed, but because he was too afraid to try. That realization broke me. I had been hiding my gift.
“Obedience matters more than perfection.”
A Small Step of Faith Leads To Breakthrough
Soon after, I was asked to lead a song. At the same time, a family member of mine was struggling with fear about stepping into what God had asked them to do. I thought about them as I prayed over that moment.
If I said yes, maybe the words of the song would strengthen them.
So I stepped out. Nervous. Unsure. But I trusted God.
And you know what? That act of obedience rippled out. My family member found the courage to step into their own calling and they did it beautifully.
“Your hidden gift might be someone else’s breakthrough.”
Sharing My Story For You
Our gifts are not just for us.
God weaves them into our lives because He knows they’ll bless others. When we bury them, someone else misses out. When we use them, even imperfectly, God multiplies the impact.
Verse of the Day
Matthew 25:23 (NIV) "“His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’"
Reflection
Take a moment and ask yourself:
• What gift have I been hiding?
• What fear or comparison has kept me from using it?
• Who might be waiting on my obedience?
Write it down. Pray over it. And trust God to use it.
