We Share To Empower: Keisha Heard

Heeeeey Honey Bunches! We Share To Empower is a series within our blog where guest bloggers can share their testimonies of something awesome God has done in their life! Today, read Keisha’s story:

March 29, 2019 was a life changing day.

A day I knew would come but not this soon.

My name is Keisha Heard and I became a 29-year-old widow on that day.

I had my whole life planned out.

We were in the middle of infertility treatments, in the middle of planning our whole lives together and then life changed forever.

My husband suddenly passed of alcoholism at the age of 31.

I never thought something like this could happen at such an early age, but it forever changed me.

I found purpose.

It’s crazy how the worst moments in our life can set us on the paths we are supposed to be on.

I struggled with my faith, anger, resentment, loneliness, suicidal thoughts and a host of other emotions.

I struggled with the what ifs and why God.

How could this happen to me?

We were 2 days away from the last phase of infertility treatments.

We were young.

Why was this burden placed on me?

But with all of the emotions, pain and grief I still found purpose.

I found God in the dark place.

God began to reveal the why.

I started to find myself, a woman I didn’t know prior to my husband’s passing.

His death brought up so much.

It brought out the trauma and unresolved issues that I realized I needed to deal with that I had suppressed over the years.

I realized to be the woman I was called to be I needed to confront those issues.

God began to put me into different places and put me around different people that I never knew I could be a part of.

I would stumble upon women who were dealing with infertility issues and I would minister to them.

I would meet widows and share my story and be able to encourage them.

I would be able to speak hope and life into them and let them know that life was not over.

That at every ending of something there is a new beginning.

“I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.” Romans 8:18

Just because one chapter has closed does mean that a new one cannot begin and that it can’t be even more than what you ever imagined.

God will often “crush” us to bring things out of us that we didn’t know was in us or we would not have done what we were called to do unless he stripped us of somethings.

Who would have known that on Oct 31, 2021 I would be an author and the release of “The Victorious Widows Anthology” would make the best sellers list and help so many people.

Often times God will allow things to happen, he will allow us to suffer because he wants us to get things out of it and you really don’t see what those things are until the ending and then you have understanding.

I am now 31 and I still have a long ways to go, but I can look back on the last 2 1⁄2 years and see how far I have come.

I can now see the pain and then the restoration.
