We Share To Empower: What Christian Am I?

Fun fact.

One of my favorite biblical based shows is The Chosen.

Now, if you have never watched this series before you are certainly missing out!

There are many reasons why The Chosen makes a great series.

However, the one thing that interests me when watching is being able to discover and “relearn” The Bible from the viewpoint of the disciples and the start of Jesus’ ministry.

For every episode, it is like I can see myself in each disciple!

I even love how the show highlights that none of the disciples were perfect, but they were committed to the parts they played within Jesus’ ministry.

Today, I was reminded of this series as I was reading Matthew 10.

In the start of this chapter, Jesus calls his twelve disciples and gives each of them the authority to cast out evil spirits and heal every kind of disease along with other instructions and warnings for them as being his followers.

When Jesus gave them the authority, I am sure the disciples were excited to use the power that Jesus gave them to help and heal others.

On the other hand, we know the disciples were not always confident to use the power Jesus gave them.

Then, I began to start thinking about the authority Jesus gave to us as his followers.

As followers of Christ, one of the last things Jesus instructed for us, his disciples, to do was to go out and make other disciples.

“Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20

Think back to the moment you made the decision to choose Christ.

How was that moment for you?

Were you filled with excitement? Freedom?

How did that moment change your life?

Now, I must ask, when was the last time you helped someone experience what you felt?

In other words, when was the last time you led someone to Christ?

If we can be really honest with ourselves, after our salvation experience, sometimes we tend to not use the authority Jesus has called us to have in this world.

We may not use it due to fear.

We may not use it due to doubt.

We may not use it due to the fear of rejection.

Or, we may simply not remember to use it!

Regardless of how we feel, every day is the perfect day for us to lead others to Christ.

Your salvation story should not just include you.

Honey Bunches, there is someone who is needing a person just like you to show Christ to them.

I encourage you this week to share your salvation story with someone new each day.

It can be at work or you can share on social media, etc.

You will be surprised by how you choosing to walk in your authority helps someone else find theirs.
