Has God Ever Given You Something You Weren’t Expecting?
Not too long ago, I had one of those moments where I just sat in my room and felt lonely.
It wasn’t because I don’t have people who care about me, I do.
It was because emotionally, I felt low, drained, and overwhelmed.
Every year around this same time, those feelings tend to creep up. Normally, I keep myself busy to stay ahead of them...taking walks, journaling, spending time in prayer.
But, there’s something about those still moments… when everything gets quiet, and your thoughts start speaking louder than you’d like.
Thoughts like:
Am I really good enough?
Am I falling behind?
Is everything I’ve been working on even working?
I sat there with tears flooding my eyes, completely undone. I cried uncontrollably until there were no more tears left.
And in that stillness, I whispered through the tears,
“God, I know how I feel, but I still trust You. I know where I am, and I’m frustrated, but I know that you’re here.”
In that moment, I remembered Psalm 34:18, “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.”
God’s Presence Can Still Be Powerful In Small, Unexpected Ways
I can’t even call what I said a full prayer, it was more like a moment of honesty with God. I didn’t dress it up. I didn’t hide how I felt.
I just told Him the truth.
And the very next day, something unexpected happened.
At work, someone who isn’t the affectionate type to me at all walked up and gave me a hug.
It wasn’t romantic. It wasn’t awkward. It was just… needed.
Later that same day, a family member I hadn’t spoken to in a while reached out with words of encouragement that felt perfectly timed.
And, I just sat there thinking, Wow. God really does know what we need, even when we don’t.
Sharing My Story For You
Friend, I share this because sometimes we overlook the little ways God shows up.
We wait for big breakthroughs, but sometimes His comfort comes through simple things...a hug, a message, a kind word at the right time.
So, if you’re reading this and you’re having one of those moments, when your emotions are heavy or you feel like you’re behind, I want you to know: you’re not alone.
God sees you.
God loves you.
And even when you can’t see what He’s doing, He’s still working behind the scenes (Isaiah 45:15 NLT) sending comfort in ways you didn’t even know you needed.
A Simple Prayer for When You Don’t Feel Your Best
God, in this moment, I feel what I feel.
It’s not comfortable. It’s tough.
But, I trust in you.
I believe you’re here, and I believe You’ll help me get through this.
In Jesus name, Amen.
Remember, there may be times where God’s answers come quietly.
Not in thunder or lightning… but in a hug, a phone call, or a whisper that reminds you He’s near.
Don’t rush past those moments.
They might just be the very thing you prayed for.
Verse of the Day
Psalm 34:18 (NIV) "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit."
