I'm curious, how often do you use GPS when traveling long distances?
Quite often, right?
Well, this past weekend I sure needed GPS as I traveled a different route to visit my mom and family for Mother’s Day.
Let’s just say… I had a whole lot of stops due to me drinking TWO FULL BOTTLES of water before traveling😩 I intentionally noticed any time I stopped my arrival time changed, but my destination remained the same!
In other words, though I may have had to fill up for gas, use the potty, get a quick bite to eat, or use the potty again, I would still arrive home on the specific route I took.
However, due to me stopping I would arrive later than the initial arrival time.
And I thought to myself, ‘Isn’t that similar to us, believers, when it comes to the plan God has for our lives?
God has a plan for us (Jeremiah 29:11) and in every thing there is a time and season!(Ecclesiastes 3:1)
If we are honest, there are times where we may find ourselves taking rest stops or detouring off from God’s plan for us.
However, I believe it’s so important for us to be mindful that no matter how far we are away from God’s plan we can always seek our spiritual guide, The Holy Spirit, to help direct us back.
“And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you.” John 14:16-17
Honey Bunches, there is nothing you can do that will separate you from God’s love. (Romans 8:38)
If you ever find yourself feeling too far from God, I encourage you to do the following when you desire to seek Him once more:
1. Share your heart to God
Share whatever is on your heart. You can simply say, God, I need you. I invite you and trust you to help me.
2. Listen to what God shares
Recently, I shared in a post Think Before You Speak that listen and silent are spelled with the same letters.
God speaks too!
Therefore, make sure after sharing your heart with God to read your Bible and allow him to speak to you too😉
He will speak to you!
3. Be proactive in what God shares
I believe most times when we feel too far off from the route of God’s plan it is because we are distracted by something(s) or someone.
If you seek God for wisdom, He will give it to you. (James 1:5)
Be proactive in taking steps toward what God shares with you.
Follow these steps and you’ll be right back in route!
